Creative writing is an artistic form of expression that allows individuals to explore their thoughts, feelings, and ideas and to communicate through the written word. It is a form of self-expression that encourages imagination, originality, and the freedom to experiment with different writing styles and styles. Creative writing gives learners the opportunity to craft compelling stories, create complex characters, and create immersive worlds. They can go into fiction or nonfiction, using descriptive language, metaphor and symbolism to evoke powerful imagery and bring out emotion in readers. Creative writing inspires creativity, encourages critical thinking, and provides a platform for reflection and storytelling. It is a form of personal expression and a form of communication that can inspire, entertain and captivate readers, inviting them into the writer’s unique and imaginative world.

What do learners learn in this course?

Learners will learn the ropes of creative writing from scratch. They will learn the descriptive language used in writing such as metaphor, similes, hyperbole and onomatopoeia. Young learners will start off by learning how to describe things such as objects and sceneries while older learners will dive deep into learning how to write their own fiction and non-fiction. The older learners will also be able to participate in the IELTS examination prep which covers not only writing but also listening, reading and speaking.

We also know that cross-checking is important in the process of any form of writing and that includes creative writing. In Blubricks Melaka, the teacher is not the only one who cross-checks the learners' work, their peers are also welcome to come together and cross-check together to not only fix the grammatical errors but also to bring more ideas to the table.
